Appointments

Location

While technology has no limits, regulations do. The medical profession is regulated at the state level, with each state issuing its own licenses. Therefore, for a video appointment, it is necessary to be physically present in a state where your doctor is licensed to practice. The appointment form requires you to specify the state where you will be during the appointment, and if you are not actually in that state, a no-show fee will be charged.

What to Expect During Your First Appointment

At Empowered Minds Behavioral, your first appointment is all about you. We take our time to understand your story, your needs, and your goals—without judgment and without rushing.

Here’s what you can expect:

📝 Intake & Paperwork

Before your session begins, you’ll complete digital intake forms, which include:
•Medical and psychiatric history
•Current symptoms and concerns
•Medication list
•Consent forms and practice policies

Tip: Complete your forms ahead of time to maximize your face-to-face time.

🧠 Comprehensive Mental Health Evaluation

Your first visit is an initial psychiatric evaluation, lasting about 60 minutes. We’ll explore:
•Your current emotional state
•Personal, social, and family history
•Past diagnoses and treatments
•Goals for therapy or medication management

This is a safe space—we keep it real, and we keep it respectful. No judgment, just support.

💊 Discussion of Diagnosis & Treatment Plan

By the end of your session, we’ll begin crafting a personalized treatment plan that may include:
•A working diagnosis (if appropriate)
•Medication recommendations (if needed)
•Therapy or lifestyle support referrals
•Education about your options

You’ll have time to ask questions—we want you to feel empowered and informed.

🤝 Collaborative Care Moving Forward

We’ll talk about next steps, like:
•Setting up follow-up visits
•Starting or continuing therapy
•Monitoring medications and progress

This isn’t a one-time fix—it’s a partnership. Your healing journey is just beginning, and we’re here to walk it with you.
